Tobago Tourism Agency takes Tobago to World Travel Market, London

WTM London is among the largest international exhibitions in the fields of travel, tourism, investment, air-transport, and travel technologies. This year, approximately 5,000 exhibitors from 182 countries and regions are participating in the event, which attracts more than 51,000 visitors.
The Tobago Tourism Agency Ltd. is attending the event along with local tourism stakeholders and Tobago House of Assembly officials in a collaborative effort to position the island’s brand as the front-runners within the regional and international travel sector.
CEO of the Tobago Tourism Ltd., Mr. Louis Lewis, stated:
WTM London provides public and private sector players in Tobago’s tourism industry the chance to engage in high profile public relations and reputation management activities, nurture existing business relationships and provide destination updates to the international trade and media.
The Tobago Tourism Agency Ltd will be launching a number of tourism developments at this year's WTM in London, including the highly anticipated announcement of Tobago’s rebranding.
In line with the new brand tagline to go “Beyond Ordinary”, the Agency will be embarking on tourism development initiatives to ensure that the quality of Tobago’s accommodation, sites and attractions, service delivery and hospitality are similarly “Beyond Ordinary”.
New on-island training programme
The Tobago Tourism Agency Ltd.’s recognizes the need for excellence in service delivery to remain competitive in the tourism industry. To assist, the Agency will host a broad spectrum of training in the provision of customer service in all aspects of service delivery. This will be done in collaboration with the Tobago Hospitality Tourism Institute.
Service standards for tourism operators
The Tobago Tourism Agency will be working in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards to improve and standardise the quality of products and services being offered to visitors and locals. This will provide the assurance that certified tourism operator services will meet National Standards that are based on international criteria, extensive stakeholder inputs and industry experts; all designed to make the island competitive.

This social media campaign has been designed to highlight 101 unforgettable reasons to visit Tobago, many of which may surprise the visitor, from activities and events, authentic experiences and thrilling adventures that take you ‘beyond the ordinary’. The idea is for visitors to contribute to the online content and overall digital conversation about the untouched, unspoilt, undiscovered Tobago.
Top UK sellers end of year awards
‘Agents Go Beyond’ is an exciting new initiative designed to recognize UK travel agents who have ‘gone beyond’ with bookings to Tobago during peak periods. Winners will be treated to a gala affair on island in a series of events to celebrate their success.
Room Upgrade Programme
Tobago will continue to undertake an island-wide room upgrade, facilitating property upgrades through the ‘Tourism Accommodation Upgrade Programme’.
