The Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards and the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited took part in a symbolic signing on ceremony on Monday November 26, 2018, to commemorate a Service Level Agreement (SLA) between the two organizations.
The SLA was signed on October 16, 2018 to establish and govern an effective working relationship between the two organizations as they jointly seek to improve the delivery of service in Tobago’s tourism sector with the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Industry Certification (TTTIC) programme.
TTTIC is a national certification programme designed to assess whether tourism operators meet national quality standards. It was developed by the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards in collaboration with industry stakeholders, and is administered by the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited on the island of Tobago.
TTTIC provides assurance to visitors that tourism operators and their businesses meet standards of minimum requirements related to the product or service. This includes, but is not limited to, standards related to regulations, infrastructure, equipment, competence and management, quality, and health and safety.
Mrs. Korice A.Q. Nancis, the Tobago Tourism Agency’s Director of Product Management and Destination Management stated, “Revisiting TTTIC is a progressive step towards normalising a 'standards culture' and raising the professionalism of our tourism industry.
“It is our vision that participants will develop action plans for improvement which include enhanced management, an improved tourism product, and higher customer satisfaction as their TTTIC certification will now be an assurance of greater product and service quality.”
The signing on ceremony took place at Central Administrative Services in Scarborough, Tobago, where Mrs. Nancis and Mr. Derek Luk Pat, Executive Director of the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards, signed on behalf of their respective organizations.
Witnessing the signing were Mr. Lawford Dupres, Chairman of the TTBS Board of Directors and Mr. Rodney Ramnath, Head of the Certification Division, TTBS.
